What P-Square, 2Face, D’banj sacrificed for us is what we’re enjoying now” – Davido

Popular singer, Davido acknowledges that the relevance Nigerian artists are enjoying has been sacrificed by their predecessors, as he opens up on his first international deal with Sony.

The “Stand Strong” crooner spoke on this while being featured in a recent interview during which he spoke about how Sony Music had signed him, making it his first international deal in 2016.

He revealed that at the time, he still had to reintroduce himself to the managers.

The singer said that he had to make an album with the Sony group, and since they were the ones signing him, they chose the producers and other members of the music team for his production.

He stated that the album was a flop by his standards, and he had to return to Nigeria to use his producers because the other ones couldn’t understand the African style of music.

Davido noted that the relevance Nigerian artists are enjoying now was the hard work of the previous generation of artists such as P-Square, 2Face, Dbanj, and from the works of the present generation of artists, the upcoming generation would reap more.
